Acne medications can be expensive. The monthly cost for treating acne with
an over the counter medication starts at about $5, but it can be more than $100
depending on which medications you use. If you use a prescription to treat your
acne, the cost could be hundreds of dollars. Maintenance is a factor too. Once
you start using a medication that works, you need to keep using the medication
on a continuous basis. If you do not, your skin will revert to its former, acne
riddled state.
For this reason and a host of others, many people choose to treat their acne
with an acne free home treatment. Free home treatments consist of homemade
treatments created from ingredients that you already have in your cupboard such
as limes, garlic, oranges. Lemon juice, mint juice, oatmeal, milk, honey and so
on.
Here is just a sampling of the many free home acne treatments that you can
try in your own home: Boil whole milk and lime juice, apply to your face and
allow to remain on the skin for 15 minutes. This will help soothe cracked skin
and help prevent pimples and blackheads.
- Mix ¼ cup garlic juice with ¾
cup water. Drinking this mixture will create an environment on your skin
in which the bacteria that causes acne will not be able to thrive.
- Mint Juice can be very
soothing and calming to acne riddled skin when applied to affected areas
nightly.
- Grate an orange rind, mix
with water and allow to remain on the face for 20 minutes.
- A paste of oatmeal and warm
water is also very soothing.
- Wear a masque of honey and
cinnamon powder overnight on your face and neck for two weeks.
- Ground radish seeds and warm
water is another great acne free home treatment.
Keep in mind that the above mentioned home remedies have worked for some.
That does not mean that they will work for you. Everyone's skin is different
and responds to different treatment courses. If you are using something to
treat your acne that is not working, move on to something else.
Some cases of acne require physician intervention. If your acne is overly
persistent, worsening, painful or bleeds, contact a doctor. Sometimes a
prescription antibiotic is needed to clear up any secondary skin infections
before acne can be treated successfully.
