If you are looking for body acne cures than you have stumbled into the
right place. Acne is a tough disease to fight with. Contrary to the
popular belief acne is not a teenager's only issues. It is estimated
that at some point in their life, a quarter of all men and a half of
all women have experienced acne. Women are more prone to this disease
because they undergo major hormonal changes during their life, mostly
through their menstrual cycle and pregnancy. But what is acne in the
first place? Acne vulgaris is an extremely annoying skin condition,
characterized by blocked pores. This occurs due to an extremely high
level of sebum secretion. Sebum is the natural oil produced by the skin
to protect itself. In the case of acne, sebum blocks the pores which
further still produces infection. If the pores are partially blocked
there will be blackheads, if the spores are totally blocked you will
have whiteheads. These are only the mild symptoms of acne. More serious
skin conditions may have pustules, or worst still cysts which will
provoke some serious damage to the skin, mainly through scarring. The
extra sebum secretion is caused by hormone disbalance, more precisely
by androgens.
Body acne cures rely mostly on removing the
effects of acne rather than healing it completely. To this moment there
really isn't a treatment that will literally help you get rid of acne.
The research done in this field is scarce to put it lightly. Most
doctors agree that a combined approach based on antibiotics and
astringent lotions. Women with some rather severe conditions can also
use birth control pills to regulate the flow of androgens.
The
antibiotics mostly used in body acne cures are erythromycin
,tetracycline, clindamycin, tretinoin and azelaic acid. Typically are
not available on an over the counter basis. They are prescription drugs
and it is highly recommended that you follow the prescription
religiously. An incomplete antibiotic treatment can lead to very
serious conditions as some infections may develop into the drug
resisting type. The basic principle behind antibiotics use is that acne
is a sort of infection which occurs at the skin level.
Astringent
lotions fight acne in a totally different way. They look at the high
level of sebum which is typically found on an acne prone skin and try
to remove the excess of it. The two major chemicals found in almost all
of the over the counter
products are salicylic acid and benzoyl
peroxide. It is very important to realize that these
products do not
heal. Instead they remove the effects of acne. If used
in a consistent
manner, they can provide quite good results, but as soon as the
treatment stops, acne is very likely to return.
The two
approaches above are what modern medicine has to offer to date. There
is also the approach of surgery, but that subject will be treated in
the next chapter. What doctors truly rely on is the high occurrence of
this disease during teenage years. This allows for topical treatment to
reduce the severity of the symptoms, while at the same time leaving the
body to regulate its own hormone flow. They basically let the body heal
itself.
Along these two traditional medical treatment options
there are a few others worth mentioning. Due to the relative lack of
research in the field, alternative medicine has filled the niche and
generally provides a lot more treatment options. They will be covered
in the next chapter so you will have proper reference. Some of the
methods used by alternative medicine have proven though to be quite
effective and withstood proper testing and research. Among these
options tea tree oil has proven to be the champion. A research
conducted using this herbal option has shown remarkable results. The
test used as a reference the benzoyl peroxide commonly used in
commercial
products. Tea tree oil is less potent and takes some time to
prove its effects, but what was truly remarkable was the fact that this
plant has little to no side effects, compared with the other chemical.
Overall the test gave quite a clear answer that tea tree oil is a
better alternative for treatment. Guggul has also undergone a similar
test, the reference substance used in this case was tetracycline. The
results were also quite remarkable and this herb has proved superior to
the antibiotic.
Acupuncture although considered an alternative
medicine field, has also went mainstream as some research was conducted
and proved its efficiency. What doctors frown upon when hearing about
acupuncture are the terms typically used in this field coming from
ancient Chinese traditions. When some researcher discovered that
acupuncture actually shows some measurable results in body chemistry,
Western medicine finally began to take it seriously and conduct several
studies. Body acne cures involving acupuncture don't actually use
needles. Cupping is the method of choice, which is a rather new method
and is seen as less intrusive by the average person. Some studies
actually show rather unbelievable results. A figure of 95 percent
efficiency is something rarely met in the medicine field. Some disagree
though to these figures as this field still has an aura of controversy
surrounding it. Nonetheless the figures are there and acupuncture is a
method that I strongly recommend.
Of course there are other many
options available if you really do not wish to use harmful substances
as some of the chemicals mentioned here have proven to be. Read on and
you will surely find the cure that fits you best.
